Mykonos Casino turns 19

Mykonos Casino, situated in the vibrant Greek Isles-inspired Club Mykonos Resort, is home to some of the best entertainment and family-friendly attractions on the West Coast. This year, on 14 November, Mykonos Casino celebrates its 19th birthday.

In 2000, West Coast Leisure (Pty) Ltd was awarded a casino licence for Mykonos Casino to trade within Club Mykonos and, on 14 November 2000, the doors were opened to the public with 250 slot machines and 12 tables. Roelof Troskie, the resort manager at the time, said: “The development is fantastic news for Club Mykonos. A lot more people will be coming to our area which will also be great for tourism”.

In 2003, under General Manager, Patrick Beney, Mykonos Casino was named Casino of the Year by Gold Reef Casino Resorts Ltd. The casino won this prestigious award again in 2009, under current General Manager and Director of Operations, Clive van Groeningen.

The West Coast, and Langebaan in particular, has become a favoured holiday destination, resulting in major growth for the region. To keep up with demand, and to maintain its upmarket look and feel, the casino has undergone several refurbishments over the years. Today, Mykonos Casino boasts 320 state-of-the-art slot machines, 6 table games, a popular buffet restaurant, a diner, games room and a vibrant sweets shop.

General Manager and Director of Operations, Clive van Groeningen said “The casino, which falls under the ownership of the Tsogo Sun gaming and entertainment group, is one of Langebaan’s top attractions and a must-visit destination on the West Coast. We are excited to celebrate our 19th year of success, but even more excited to be only one year away from 20!”
