Spray, Shave or Stencil For CANSA Shavathon 2014 at Mykonos Casino
Mykonos Casino has hopped onboard as a venue sponsor for the 2014 CANSA Shavathon. This is the third consecutive year that the resort has played host to the event which is held annually to raise awareness and funds for CANSA.
In 2013, around 100 people came to Mykonos Casino to have their heads shaved or sprayed for the CANSA Shavathon. Mykonos Casino’s Marketing Manager, Natasha Brand hopes more people will use the resort to show their support for CANSA.
“The CANSA Shavathon is one of South Africa’s most-supported and best-loved charity events. Each year, we are bowled-over by the sheer number of people who come to the casino to shave or spray their hair to show solidarity with people affected by cancer, and help generate funds.
“We hope to attract even more people this year. Mykonos Casino has ample space to accommodate large crowds. Let’s do it!” she encourages.
This year, being the 11th year that the national CANSA Shavathon has been held, people will have the choice of shaving, spraying or stenciling their hair. Adults can shave, spray or stencil their head for a donation of R50 (or more) and children under 12 years old pay for R25. The activities will be held on Friday, 28 February at the back of the main reception area at Club Mykonos as well as on Saturday, the 1st of March at the Marina, Club Mykonos.
Participants can pay cash to CANSA Shavathon representatives at Mykonos Casino on the day or, to fast track the process, they can make an online donation in advance on www.shavathon.org.za. Those making online donations must remember to take their confirmation email with them when they visit the Shavathon stand at Mykonos Casino. Those who aren’t brave enough to do any of those can choose to pay a “bailout fee”. All funds raised through CANSA Shavathon events will go towards CANSA initiatives.
Mykonos Casino, a long-time supporter of CANSA, recently received an award from the organization in recognition of its unwavering commitment to CANSA in support of its efforts to raise awareness of cancer and provide support services to people affected by the disease. In 2013, Mykonos Casino sponsored R20 000 towards CANSA and played host to the annual CANSA Shavathon.
